Adult Education CTE | Animal Services | Pet Grooming courses in Long Island

Required Courses: Pet Grooming I • Pet Grooming II • OSHA-10

Note: The Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) is a required entrance exam.

OSHA-10

The OSHA-10 course teaches entry-level employees how to recognize hazards in any work environment. OSHA recommends that you enroll in this safety certification program as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1910. Workers must receive additional training, when required by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of each job. Upon successful completion, you will receive a 10-hour General Industry Safety Certification Completion Card.

Pet Grooming I

Have a passion for working with animals? Become a pet groomer! This entry-level training program will teach you basic canine anatomy and animal behavior. You will also learn how to use grooming equipment to bathe, dry, and groom pets. It is the responsibility of the student to have a dog available for class sessions for practical, hands-on training. Proof of the dog's vaccinations is required.

Pet Grooming II

Learn the various grooming styles used among different breeds and species. Use grooming tools to groom faces, blend coat lengths, and trim nails. Practice interacting with pets and their owners to provide effective customer service.
